How long will the plaster finish last?
Plaster on residential applications generally will last 10 to 15 years depending on how the pool chemistry is monitored. A high total alkalinity will cause scaling on the plaster. This scaling makes the plaster look dingy and can only really be effectively cleaned by draining the pool and acid washing. A low total alkalinity creates a corrosive environment that etches the plaster, making it rough and thus reducing the lifespan.
