BIGUANIDES

The name for a certain class of sanitizers using the polymer PHMB, the only non-halogen sanitizer available for pool and spa use. Polyhexmethylene biguanide hydrochloride. A long chain polymeric molecule with both bactericidal and algicidal characteristics. Must be used in pool maintenance with a supporting oxidizer (Hydrogen peroxide). "Soft Swim" and "Baquacil" are manufacturers of this technology.
